PEACH AND CREAM DAHLIAS
Hi! I’m super excited to be blogging for the first time on the behind the scenes of my watercolor design sets. I just recently launched Peach and Cream Dahlias. This set is inspired by peach dahlias that will be blooming very soon (in mid-July). I love dahlias! They are so fluffy and open. And if you look from an angle, the flower looks as though it is taking flight. That is my thought process as I paint and draft the set.
Below is a video of me painting at 4 a.m. in the morning. I do my best paintings before dawn because that is time when everyone is asleep. No distractions. Just me and my brush =).
PAINTING DRAFTS
Below is the four painting drafts that I used for the Peach and Cream Dahlias. Some elements never make it to the final set. I have learnt to trim down to the most useful elements.
BLOOPERS
Below is the painting that became a doodle. I think I was painting while my girls were hovering around me. I ended up painting the dahlia super big and the leaves so so small. Painting while your kids are around never works for me…and yet I keep trying .
And that’s it! I hope you enjoy this little back door look into my working process :). Until then, have an awesome day!
